August 2007

August 26, 2007

 Dear Parents,

Thank you for a great week one. We met as a faculty on Friday to discuss the small details we need to fix. We would like to ask your help with some of it.

  1. When picking up your child, please make sure you drive all the way up on the circular drive instead of stopping in the shade in order to create the most amount of space for the parents behind you. There are 2 lanes of traffic.
  1. Please park across the street and NOT on the lot in front of school as we do not have space and it would create a danger for students and parents.
  1. Be patient when dropping off and picking up students. There are many little kids going in different directions and we want to make sure they are safe.
  1. We are looking for parents who are willing to join our PTA board and/or help us with FUNDRAISING.
  1. Remember how important punctuality is. Classes start promptly at 8:00.
  1. Important date to remember: Family BBQ on Saturday September 15 from 6-8 PM

On a different note: we are abiding by the rules and regulations in our handbook and have started tallying infractions. We will contact you when your child needs to serve a detention.

We are looking for 3 more desktop computers. If you can be of any assistance, please let us know. We will be extremely grateful.  The computers need to have the following specifications: A minimum of 512 MB of RAM, with an 80GB hard drive.

I wish everyone an even better week number two.

PTA meeting Thursday September 13 at 7:30 PM

September 17, 2007

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Last week was a busy week for CAPS. On Thursday September 13 we had our first general PTA meeting of the school year and at that time we elected the new PTA Board. We want to thank the members of our retired board for their contributions to making CAPS a better place for all, and present you with the new board.

They are:

President: Cassandra Chun

Vice-President: Meroukshelaine Glas

Secretary/ Faculty Rep.: Corine Karsters

Treasurer: Zita Mesman

Member at Large: Lyhayla Caldera

Member at Large: Adria Koomen

Member at Large: Remco Tevreden

These parents are very eager to get started and we are extremely happy to have them come forward on behalf of the school.

On Saturday September 15 we had our Family Barbeque and we had many parents, students and family members join us and help throughout the night. We also had many delicious contributions. It was such a joy to see everyone enjoying themselves and I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. It was definitely a successful event.

Next event on the agenda is the OPEN HOUSE on Tuesday September 25. During this day parents and new prospective parents are invited to see what we are doing. It is a regular school day for us and teachers will not be able to conference with you, but you get to take a sneak peak at us.

Visit our website www.curprep.com for the revised calendar and upcoming events.

Kind Regards,

Helga Budish, Director

October 2007

Dear Parents,

Next Wednesday, October 31, we will be celebrating Halloween at school. The students are allowed to dress up. There will be a prize for the most creative costume. We will organize games and activities for grades K-5 through grade 8 in the Kabouterbos.  The students in the Virtual classroom will help manage the games together with coach Edward and coach Jimmy. K-5 through Grade 4 will go from 9:00 – 10:30 and Grade 5 through Grade 8 will go from 11:00 – 12:30. If you would like to send something to share with the class, feel free to do so.

November 2007

 Dear Parents,

This Thursday, November 8th, school ends at 12:30 for all students and we have parent -teacher conferences in the evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. On Friday November 9th there is no school for students. Instead we have parent – teacher conferences. Teachers have sent out letters inviting parents to sign up for a conference. It is extremely important to have home and school working together to get the best results from each student.

On Friday November 9th, the Indian community is celebrating Diwali. Many teachers are teaching their students about this important holiday for the children from India. Miss Kathleen is doing something special in the library on Thursday, while other classes are either having a celebration or doing some art work acknowledging this holiday and we encourage the students to come in typical Indian costumes on Thursday if they wish to do so. We hereby would like to wish all Indian families a very happy Diwali.

Best wishes and kind regards,

Helga Budish, Director
