Living our school mission, we encourage a fulfilling education in collaboration with a dynamic digital environment. All classrooms are equipped with 1-to-1 sets of iPads or laptops. We use Mimio products and software that bring lessons alive as well as allow for personalized, collaborative instruction and assessment. Students have control of their learning at their finger-tips and interactive lessons keep everyone involved. Our middle and high school is equipped with individual Google Chromebooks for each student so they can connect to their online courses through Florida Virtual School and participate as global learners in their face-to-face classes.
CAPS is currently piloting a synchronous classroom for Information Technology class. Students in the pilot program logon to the online Zoom classroom in conjunction with our Learning Management System (LMS), Schoology, during their specific class time. The students learn in a real-time, face-to-face class but via internet enabled MacBooks. Students attend the course weekly as a class where they focus on real world technology skills and 21st century skills with an emphasis on project-based learning. Currently, students are focusing on coding, typing speed and accuracy, web design, and presentation skills. The students and teacher can speak to one another in real-time, share screens, have small group discussions, and work collaboratively.
