WORLD LANGUAGES

Dutch & Spanish

Core subjects and specials courses are conducted in English, but students also have the opportunity to learn Dutch and Spanish at CAPS. Most grade levels attend language courses biweekly.

Our language programs have two educational tracks for Native and Non-Native speakers. Each educational track is designed to support learners in World Language acquisition at their particular level.

High school students also have the opportunity to take Dutch as a face-to-face elective course. Dutch is an important language to our island and can be appealing for those students going into business, government, or law. Students that wish to study at the next level in The Netherlands are also urged to take this language course in order to be best prepared for what the future holds.

High School World Language Courses

High school students are required to take two World Language credits and have the option of taking more than that depending on what their future university may require and where their interests lie. CAPS high schoolers can take Dutch as a face-to-face elective course. Our Dutch program has leveled educational tracks for Native and Non-Native speakers. Students must take a placement test to find out where they best fit. Dutch is an important language to our island and can be appealing for those students going into business, government, or law. Students that wish to study at the next level in The Netherlands are also urged to take this language course in order to be best prepared for what the future holds.

CAPS high schoolers may also opt for an online World Language course through Florid Virtual School (FLVS). FLVS language options include Chinese, French, Latin, and Spanish. Depending on their individual level and amount of completed courses, students also have the option of taking some of these World Language courses at the more challenging honors or AP levels.
